Newton Medical Center visitor restriction lifted

12-1-09 Due to the decline in influenza-like-illness, Newton Medical Center lifts the visitor restrictions for children 12 years of age and under effective immediately.
However, with the increased risk of infection among children under the age of 6 months, the maternal child unit will continue to restrict visitors under the age of 12 with the exception of siblings of the newborn patient.

“We will re-evaluate the need for visitor restrictions when appropriate,” Michelle Starks, RN, NMC infection control nurse, said. “We are grateful for everyone’s patience and understanding.”
