Births reach new record at Newton Medical Center in 2008

The number of babies born in Newton Medical Center’s Maternal/Child unit reached a record high of 542 during 2008.
According to hospital records, this new total, which includes 74 babies born during the month of December, alone, surpasses the old record of 531 newborns established in 2006.

Physicians who specialize in obstetrical care as well as general practitioners deliver babies at Newton Medical Center.

"Patients like their experience here and are very loyal to their doctor and NMC, said Kent Bradley, MD, an obstetrician with Associates in Women’s Health in Newton. “That is demonstrated by the fact that moms came to NMC to deliver from a dozen counties in Kansas and as far away as Ness City,” Bradley said.

All NMC’s Maternal/Child nurses are specially trained to deliver expert, compassionate care and support to the mothers and babies. “Everything from our birthing rooms to our specially trained staff is there to surround each family with nurturing and support,” said Maternal/Child Nurse Manager Shirley Ulrich.
