Orthopaedics is the medical specialty that focuses on injuries and diseases of the body’s musculoskeletal system. This complex system includes bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves and allows the body to move, work and be active.
Newton Medical Center strives to provide our community with the highest quality of orthopaedic care. Our commitment to this goal has led to our continued growth and expansion of orthopaedic services, including sports medicine, joint replacement, hand and wrist surgery and general orthopaedics.
Orthopaedic surgeons manage special problems of the musculoskeletal system via diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention. Many orthopaedists specialize in certain areas, such as the foot and ankle, spine, hip and knee. They may also choose to focus on such specific fields as pediatrics, trauma and sports medicine. Some orthopaedic surgeons may specialize in several areas.1
