A Xeiss Microm Cryostat, using a quick-freeze process that rapidly stabilizes tissue samples, gives surgeons a preliminary diagnosis in minutes.
For the patient, the Cryostat means fewer surgical procedures. While a patient remains under anesthesia, the pathologist can analyze the tissue, and the physician then can proceed with treatment. Other procedures take much longer. Without the Cryostat, one surgical procedure would be required to collect the tissue specimen and another would be needed for treatment.
