NMC employees win first place in annual Greater Wichita Area YMCA corporate challenge
The Heart Healthy Bingo challenge required participants to complete up to 1,150 activities that are shown to be beneficial for good heart health.

NMC employees achieved 867 activities for a completion rate of 75 percent.

Other participating companies were ICI-El Dorado, City of El Dorado, CGF Industries, KeyCentrix and Butler Rural Electric Cooperative.

Participating NMC clinical departments were Laboratory, Emergency Department, Maternal/Child, Medical Surgical Nursing Units, Imaging, Outpatient Infusion Center, Newton Surgery Center, and Operating Room Staff. They completed 460 heart healthy activities.

Non-clinical departments included Administration, Health Information Management, Dietary, Human Resources, Library, Materials Management, Patient Access, and Information Services, which completed 407 heart healthy activities.

Participants filled out bingo-type cards that depicted several heart healthy tips, including:
• Eat 4-5 fruits and vegetable servings today
• Check your blood pressure
• Eat fish (not fried)
• Park at the back of the parking lot at work
• Park at the back of the parking lot at the store
• One week NO fried food
• Exercise
