Newton physician joins international medical group bound for Haiti
Jennifer Scott Koontz, M.D., with Pinnacle Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics, will be in Haiti for eight days.

“Our flight arrives in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and then we are traveling to Port-au-Prince by vehicle,” Dr. Koontz, said, in announcing her decision to join other physicians from around the world who are responding to the medical needs of the Haitians.

“The group I am going with is Heart to Heart International,” Koontz said.

Newton Medical Center supplies Koontz with donated drugs and medications from its pharmacy and medical supplies from the shelves of its materials management department, according to Chief Operating Office Mike Keller.

“The supplies will make such a difference,” Koontz told hospital administrators. “I will definitely not be going empty-handed because of all of you, and I am so thankful for that," she said.

Dr. Koontz joined Pinnacle Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics (formerly Axtell Orthopedics) in 2009. The medical practice is part of Pinnacle Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics of Hutchinson, with a location on the Newton Medical Center campus.
