Newton Medical Center celebrates May as Better Hearing & Speech Month
During this time audiologists and speech-language pathologists around the country promote awareness about speech, language, and hearing health through different programs and educational activities.

Although speech-language and swallowing problems can affect anyone of any age at any time, this year’s focus at Newton Medical Center is on pediatric speech and language development. Young children with speech or language delays can limit early learning and evidence shows that early intervention is key. The medical center will also be introducing a new and highly effective treatment approach in October, which emphasizes multi-sensory interventions for children with neurological and developmental delays.

On May 21- 23, Newton Medical Center will be providing free information and handouts regarding developmental milestones and easy “at home” suggestions for ways to encourage early language and literacy development with young children.

Speech language pathologists also work with a wide range of ages and diagnoses effecting communication and/or swallowing. If you or someone you care about has a problem speaking, understanding, or swallowing, consult a speech language pathologist. The certified speech therapists at Newton Medical Center will be happy to serve you. Contact us at (316) 804-6080.
