Child Care Center opens enrollment

Newton Medical Center’s Child Care Center will focus on offering child care services on a full-time basis beginning August 4. A simplified, increased rate structure will also become effective on that date.
At a parent meeting April 8, Newton Medical Center employees whose children are currently enrolled in the Center were asked to indicate their intention to continue participation by re-registering on or before July 4.

Following that three-month period of re-registration, families throughout the entire Newton area, regardless of place of employment, will be eligible to enroll children ages 6-weeks to 5-years-old in the Center, which is designed to fully meet the child care and educational needs of young children.

“Children of Newton Medical Center employees will continue to receive enrollment priority,” said Susan Graber, Child Care Center director. “Opening the enrollment to the entire community meets a growing demand for quality child care in the Newton area.”

Newton Medical Center continues to provide more than $100,000 in support of the employer-sponsored program that was established in 1990.

“To keep the Center open and operational, we still provide the building, maintenance and utilities,” said Todd Tangeman, NMC’s human resources director.

A partnership was formed in 2005 between NMC and Bright Horizons Family Solutions, the world’s leading provider of employer-sponsored early care and education programs.

“Bright Horizons and NMC are proud of the high quality of the facility and services,” Tangeman said.

The Center provides services Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The fees include a nutritious lunch, along with morning and afternoon snacks.
Parents participate in a computerized check-in/out system and determine a pre-authorized plan for pick up as part of the Center’s safety protocol.

Parents are considered full partners and are invited to participate with their children in every step of the Bright Horizon’s “Journey to Lifelong Learning.”
