The Women's Center
The Women’s Center at NMC is located in the Medical Office Plaza at Newton Medical Center. We offer advanced imaging services for women, allowing them to complete their medical care near their physician and close to home.
Services include digital mammography, sonography, bone densitometry, and stereotactic breast biopsies.
The Women’s Center has utilized digital mammography since 2003. Digital mammography offers high-resolution images and a large field of view to enable radiologists to see more detail within the soft tissues, leading to a more accurate diagnosis. The Women’s Center also offers CAD, Computer Aided Detection, with your annual mammogram. This system provides assistance to the radiologist in the detection of abnormalities on your mammogram. The Women’s Center provides service for your annual mammogram, as well as any follow-up that is necessary to complete your care.
Sonography is offered at the Women’s Center. Obstetrical, gynecological, pelvic, abdominal, and breast ultrasound exams are completed at the Women’s Center. Also, breast biopsy procedures can be completed using ultrasound technology. The Women’s Center is conveniently located next to Associates in Women's Health, PA, with Drs. Bates, Bradley and Harkins.
The bone densitometry equipment uses small amounts of radiation to determine bone strength. The bone density test is a fast, painless and safe test that helps physicians treat patients who are at risk for the development of osteoporosis.
If an abnormality is detected within your breast, the Women’s Center can provide you with the option of having a stereotactic biopsy. A stereotactic biopsy is a minimally invasive option to sample tissue from the abnormality. This procedure requires no stitches and virtually leaves no scarring while enabling you to return to your normal activities after the procedure.
