Lettau appointed to nurse-manager of Maternal-Child Unit

Newton Medical Center has appointed Jessica Lettau, RN, as the new Nurse Manager for the Maternal-Child Unit. Lettau will replace Shirley Ulrich who is retiring at the end of September.

“Jessica’s clinical experience and work as education coordinator on the Maternal-Child Unit have demonstrated her leadership and commitment to the success of the staff in providing a family birthing experience,” said Jeff Barton, NMC vice president of patient services.

Lettau’s first position with NMC was as a CNA, while pursuing her BSN at Bethel College in 1995. She worked at Kidron-Bethel as a RN following her degree in 1998. In 1999, she returned to NMC as a staff nurse on the Skilled Unit and later that year transferred to the Maternal-Child Unit.

While working as a staff nurse on the Maternal-Child Unit, she has taken on added job responsibilities and assignments including education coordinator, discharge planner, child passenger safety technician and maternal-child representative for both the Nursing Department Nursing Operations and Education Councils, among other duties.
