The City of Newton has begun road improvements near the Newton Medical Center campus.
Phase 1 will reconstruct the east half of the intersection at South Kansas Avenue and Medical Center Drive, which will take about 10 days to complete. Workers will begin demolishing the east half of the intersection at Medical Center Drive on Monday. During this period, traffic can enter the hospital complex on one-half of the intersection and then exit via Windward Drive to the south.
The full project, partially funded through the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Federal Fund Exchange Program, includes complete reconstruction of South Kansas from U.S. Highway 50 to Quail Creek Avenue. It is expected to be complete in late November.
