J. Scott Pigg joins NMC’s orthopaedic team

J. Scott Pigg, M.D., has joined Pinnacle Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics’s Newton office. A general orthopaedic physician, Dr. Pigg is particularly experienced with hip, knee, and shoulder replacement; hand fracture care; and arthroscopic sports procedures.

The Topeka native spent a year in Fort Worth working with Habitat for Humanity after earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas. He then returned to school and received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City. Dr. Pigg completed his orthopaedic residency in Wichita.

“One of the main reasons I chose to affiliate with Pinnacle is the absolutely wonderful reputation of Dr. Craig,” Dr. Pigg said. Charles Craig, M.D., is a Pinnacle orthopaedic surgeon and the current president of the Kansas Medical Society. “I’m genuinely excited about the opportunities here to build a successful general orthopaedic practice, and really appreciate the tight-knit community atmosphere in Newton.”

Dr. Pigg said that when he has time away from the office, he prefers spending it with his family; he also enjoys gardening and working in the yard. He and his wife, a Wichita OB/GYN, have two daughters: Charlotte, 3, and three-month old Vivian.

Pinnacle Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics is located on the second floor of the Newton Surgery Center, 800 Medical Center Drive. Pinnacle also has a Hutchinson clinic at The Summit, 1818 East 23rd. More information about the physicians and services is available at www.pinnacleortho.com.
