Harvey County Project Search, sponsored by Newton Medical Center, will host a booth at the Harvey County United Way Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, October 1, from 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m., at 6th and Main, downtown Newton.
The Project Search/NMC Team, led by Jason Chalashtari, Project Search instructor, will be offering tastes of their special recipe chili in hopes of beating out the competition. Tasting kits, which allow the holder to sample all of the chilis at the event and vote for their favorite, are available for $5 each. Contact Jason to purchase tickets: 283.2700 ext 1172, or jchalash@newton.k12.ks.us.
Tickets are also available at the Harvey County United Way office, Prairie Harvest, or Ameriprise Financial. Proceeds from the chili cook-off benefit Harvey County United Way and the local non-profit agencies it serves.
Project Search is a job internship program that trains students with developmental disabilities for long-term non-traditional employment. Newton Medical Center is the on-site business partner for the Harvey County Project Search program.
